Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading.
Anyone can do it. You just have to do is:
(1): Grab your current read.
(2): Open it to a random page.
(3): Share 1 or 2 "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!!
(4): Make sure you also mention the author and title.
The Wild Queen, by Carolyn Meyer
#1: “The duke and the cardinal stood before me, waiting expectantly for me to agree to the scheme they had proposed, as I always had in the past. I understood now that they had deceived me into signing documents that, had I died while Francois still lived, would have made Scotland a province of France . I deeply resented their deception.”
#2: “I removed the dressing gown and took a long moment to study my reflection in the polished silver of the mirror. What I saw pleased me. I had been praised for my beauty since my childhood. It was gratifying to have courtiers and ladies in waiting and servants tell me that I was beautiful, but one was always a bit doubtful of their sincerity.
