US vs UK #13 + Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt Tag

US vs UK is a meme hosted by Book Passion for Life.  In this meme, I will post a US and UK cover from the same book, and you guys will vote which one you like best.

The Score:
US: 9 UK: 1 Draw: 2

The Pledge (The Pledge, #1)  VS   The Pledge (The Pledge, #1)

My Vote:

I honestly can't decide which one I like best! On the one hand I really like the US cover because of the dark feel and the model channels the feel of the book perfectly.  But, on the other hand, the UK cover has a really good tag-line, and the model captures the feel as well.  So, for me, it's a toss-up.

Bookshelf Scavenger Hunt Tag!

Hey everyone!  So I've been thinking, and I've decided that I might not make Emily's Ramblings a weekly thing because sometimes I just don't have anything to ramble about.  Like today.  I initially wasn't going to post anything, but then I saw this video and the tag looked really fun.  It was created by TheLibrayroSarah on YouTube.  So that's what I'm going to be doing today!!  So let's get started!!

Find an author's name or title with the letter Z in it
This one was actually pretty hard.  I had to look through my main bookshelf, the shelves in my closet, then I had to look through all the books that I was going to get rid of but still had, and I was lucky enough to find...

Who Done it, by Jon SciesZka

Find a classic
This one was easy.  I keep all the classics that I've read in my room, so I picked randomly and got...

It's a little beat up but much loved.  My parent's actually gave me this copy, so that's pretty cool.  This is one of my most favorite classics that I've read.

Find a book with a key on it
I didn't know if I actually had a book with a key on it because I couldn't think of one off the top of my head, but after a bit of searching I found...

And here's the key...

Find something on your bookshelf that's not a book

Easy.  I got this from Grandma for Christmas

Find the oldest book on your shelf
Okay, for this one I have two books.  I couldn't figure out if I was supposed to pick one that's first edition was published the earliest, or if I was supposed to pick a book that, in the edition I owned, was published earliest.  So, here are the two books...

Pride and Prejudice was first published in 1813 but, obviously, this isn't the orignial edition.  The Great Gatsby, in this edition, was published 1925.  I'm not sure if this edition is the orignial one (probs not, it's in too good condition) but it looks a bit old.
And since I have two, that means bonus points.

Find a book with a girl on the cover
I gotta tell ya, this one was really hard.  Especially when most of my bookshelf has a girl on the cover.  So I just picked a random one...

Find a book that has an animal in it
Easy.

Find a book with a male protagonist
I'm ashamed to say that I only own three (I think, not sure, I'm just thinking real quick) books with a male protagonist. *hides in corner*.  But I do own a really famous book with a male protagonist and that is...

You really can't do a tag without mentioning Harry Potter at least once.

Find a book with only words on it
This one didn't take me long to find because I had seen it when I was looking for another book, but here is...

Find a book with illustrations in it
I actually just finished reading this book.  And I'm glad I own it becaue I don't have another book with pictures in it.

And here are some of the pics

Find a book with gold lettering
I thought this was going to be really hard to do, but I found two books pretty quickly...bonus points!!

Find a diary (true or fictional)
There's actually a whole series of these books, and I aboslutely loved them when I was younger (I still do, actually).  But I just picked a random one (which also happened to be one of my favorites from the series ;P)

Find a book written by someone with a common name (like Smith)
Richards is a pretty common last name right?

Find a book that has a closeup of something on it
BOOM!  Here it is.

Find a book on your shelf that takes place in the earliest time period
This book is set in whatever time Cleopatra was alive.  Which I know for a fact was a long time ago.  So there.

Find a hardcover book without a jacket
Okay, so I cheated a bit on this one.  I don't actually own a book without a jacket, but a while ago I was messing around looking through my books and I realized that if you take the dust jacket off Pushing the Limits, the actual hard cover looks like this.

And that's cool.  So bonus points to me.

Find a teal/turquoise colored book
Pshhh.  Easy.

Find a book with stars on it
I thought I was totally screwed for this one, but then I found...

Find a non-YA book
This book was my all-time favorite when I was like 8.

And that's it!  We're done, tag over, competed, finished, whatever.  That was actually a lot of fun!  NOW I TAG ALL OF YOU TO GO AND DO IT TOO!!  And if you do let me know in the comments below and I'll come check it out!  Like I said above, I might not be posting Emily's Ramblings very consistenantly, but if you guys leave tags in the comments below (make sure you let me know the questions and who started it, or just put in a link to a video) I'll do them the next week!

  1. I love the tag! This might sound weird but I have the EXACT same rug as you in my room :P
Gosh you have a lot of books! My collection is pretty wimpy since I've only been reading for about half a year. (I mean, I read before, just not as much.)

As for the US vs UK, Im going to have to go with the UK cover. Its so pretty and interesting :)

  2. Awesome bookshelf scavenger hunt. Lol, I didn't know Pushing the Limits looked like that without the cover. As soon as I saw that I practically ran to see if mine had that too. (It does. Har har)

I like the US cover, I think. I know this sounds, like, really wierd, but I think the models mouth is more expressive in that one. They kinda say a mix of "I am hiding a secret" and "I'm a survivor".
