Hey everyone! So, Shannon Duffy asked me to be a part of this fab blog tour and since her book looks amazing I agreed. I have so many books I have to read and review so today I'm just doing a quick author interview. I hope you enjoy! :)

~Author Interview~
1. Could you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m originally from Newfoundland which is a province on the east coast of Canada. Right now I live in Ontario, close to Toronto. When I’m not tapping away at my keyboard, or flipping through some delicious novel, you’d find me hanging out with my husband and son, at a gym, or strolling some mall debating on which pair of shoes I can buy next.
2. Why did you decide to become a writer?
I decided to become a writer because it’s a real passion of mine. I was originally a nurse before taking on writing fulltime. What really got me started was that I wanted to write a book for my son. That story, GABRIEL STONE AND THE DIVINITY OF VALTA is a middle grade fantasy that comes out next January. After I finished that novel, I really wanted to write a young adult and SPECTRAL was born.
3. Who were your biggest influences?
My biggest influences would be: 1. My mom for everything she did for me, all the books she bought me, and because she has the kindest heart of anyone I know. Also, 2. My high school English teacher, Mr. Rowsell. Little did he know that when he read some of my writing assignments in class, he planted a seed that would grow into something much bigger.
4. Any special talents (besides writing)?
Hmmm talents? Well, I’ve been told many times that I should have been an interior decorator. I do like decorating, it’s lots of fun. =)
5. What's your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is The Notebook. No matter how many times I watch it, I still love it. Noah and Allie=True love forever. Sigh. Can I just say that I also love Ace Ventura Pet Detective? No movie has ever made me laugh so hard since.
6. Favorite book?
Favorite book? Whoa, that’s a tough one. I can’t pick just one. I loved The Twilight Series, The Hunger Games Series, and just recently really enjoyed the Hush Hush series. My critique partner’s books rock too. My SUPER SWEET SIXTEENTH CENTURY by Rachel Harris comes out from Entangled next Sept, and DESTINY’S FIRE by Trisha Wolfe is out now. Both awesome reads.
7. Favorite season?
My favorite season is definitely summer. Outside café’s, boating, jet-skiing, swimming, cottage, and warm evening walks with the dogs. Gotta love it.
8. When and how did you get the idea for Spectral?
I got the idea for Spectral in December of 2010. It was one of those nights where I couldn’t sleep. I really wanted to write a witch story, and then the idea just tumbled into my brain. Of course, it was the basic idea, but I was so excited about it that I kept talking about it for days. The story took on a life of its own in my mind, and I had to write it.
9. Will there be a sequal and if so what can we expect?
As far as a sequel, I’m not planning on it. I do have some thoughts on where I could go and am not ruling out the possibility, but if I told you my idea…well you know how it goes. ;)

ReplyDeleteHi Giselle! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!! :)
DeleteSpectral is amazing! I loved this book. And I totally get what Shannon is saying about getting an idea and talking about it for days until it fully develops in your mind.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, by the way. I'm a new follower.
Hi Kelly! Thanks so much! That means a lot! And thanks for following too! <3
DeleteEmily, thanks for hosting Shannon for an interview. I love to hear about how an author's inspiration strikes.
ReplyDeleteGiselle, good to see you - thanks for the new release post! :)
I may be biased as her critique partner (he he) but I love Spectral and absolutely adore Shannon. She's an amazing friend, a talented writer, and the most giving, caring person I know. And what's fun is I learned a few things with this post...yes, NOTEBOOK!!! I'd love that movie even if Ryan Gosling wasn't in it, but since he is....win win :)
