Top Five Things I Love About Halloween

Welll, since it Halloween today and I love making lists, I've decided to make a list about the things I like about Halloween.  So here goes:

  1. The candy (yum yum)
  2. Vampire Academy, by Richelle Mead ( I know that isn't Halloweenish, but books can be included in anything)
  3. Scary moment time:  I was eight and living in an apartment with my parents and siblings and the fire alarm starts going off.  I was so scared that I literally ran to my parents' bed and hid under the covers.  It turned out that there wasn't a fire, some idiot was sanding downstairs. :p)
  4. Another scary moment:  I almost got left behind on a train station in France.  We were getting on the train and the doors started closing and my dad had to stand between them so I could get in.  Very, very scary.)
  5. The costumes.  Love the costumes.

Cover Reveal: Underworld

Book: Underworld
Author: Meg Cabot
Series: Abandon Trilogy #2
Release Date: May 2012
My Thoughts:
Although I really, really like this cover, I'm most likely not going to read the book.  I didn't enjoy Abandon at all.  To be honest, I didn't even finish it.  So unless it shows up in my library, I won't be reviewing this book.  *Sorry, Meg Cabot*

Other Books in the Series:
Abandon

What do you think?  I love to hear your opinions.  Leave comments!  (:

Top Ten Tuesday: (#4)

This is the first time I've ever done Top Ten Tuesday.  It's a meme hosted by the girls at The Broke and the Bookish where they choose a topic for the list and we all list our corresponding books. (:

This week's list is:

The Dark and Hollow Places, by Carrie Ryan ( The third in the trilogy, after The Dead-Tossed Waves.  Still probably pretty scary.)
Top Ten Books To Read During Halloween:

  1. The Forest of Hands and Teeth, by Carrie Ryan ( Horror, zombies, Unconsecrated, oh my!  Very, very scary)
  2. The Dead-Tossed Waves, by Carrie Ryan ( I haven't read this book yet, but it's the next book after The Forest of Hands and Teeth, so I'm asuming it's just as scary)
  3. Vampire Academy, by Richelle Mead ( I have read this book, and it's not really terrifying, but just a tiny bit scary.  I loved it but for some weird reason I've only read one other book in the series.)
  4. Vampire Kisses, by Ellen Schreiber ( I haven't read this book either,  So lame :p)
  5. Book of a Thousand Days, by Shannon Hale ( I HAVE read this book, one of a very few I have .  Towards the end of the book it got a little scary.  But it's one of my favorite books.)
  6. The Summoning, by Kelley Armstrong ( I have also read this book, and I'm very proud of myself :p.  It was definetly scary, and definetly a Halloween book.)
  7. A Great and Terrible Beauty, by Libba Bray ( Also read this one, and it's amazing.  And scary.  Definetly don't read at night ;p)
  8. Goddess of the Night, by Lynne Ewing ( Although this is a small book, it's surprisiningly scary.  A good read.  I really enjoyed it.)
  9. The Summoning, by Lynne Ewing ( Also a small, scary read.  Highly recommend.)

To be honest, I am extremely embarrased by my lack of scary books I've read.  It's pathetic.  I'm going to make it a goal to read more of them.  But I'm a complete wimp, so that may not happen. :p

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Fever, by Lauren DeStefano

Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but danger is never far behind.

Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.

The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary.

The Iron Daughter, by Julie Kagawa

#1: "Meeting my gaze, he took one step forward, drew me into his arms, and brushed his lips to mine.  I think our last kiss was meant to be quick and chaste, but after the first touch of his lips fire leaped up and roared through my belly.  My fingers yanked him close, digging into his back, and his arms crushed me to him as if wanting to meld us together."

#2: "At the foot of the throne, the lady knelt and held out the scepter in both hands, bowing her head.  For a moment, Mab did nothing, simply watching the faery with an unreadable expression on her face.  The rest of the Winter Court seemed to hold their breath.  Then, with deleberate slowness, Mab stood and plucked the scepter from the woman's hands.  Holding it up before her, the queen studied it, then raised it up for all to see.

And those are my teasers for this week.  What are yours?  Leave the link below.  (:

Waiting on Wednesday (2): Bloodrose

This is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlites upcoming new releases that we're highly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Bloodrose, by Andrea Cremer:

Calla has always welcomed war. But now that the final battle is upon her, there’s more at stake than fighting. There’s saving Ren, even if it incurs Shay’s wrath. There’s keeping Ansel safe, even if he’s been branded a traitor. There’s proving herself as the pack’s alpha, facing unnamable horrors, and ridding the world of the Keepers’ magic once and for all. And then there’s deciding what to do when the war ends. If Calla makes it out alive, that is.

In the final installment of the Nightshade trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Andrea Cremer creates a novel with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat until its final pages. A dynamic end to this breathtaking trilogy.

Release: SILENCE!!!

OMG I am so excited.  Silence has finally been released!!!  I pre-ordered it like five months ago and have been waiting (very, very, VERY impatiently) for this book to be released and I'm so excited!!!   What do you all think??

Top Ten Tuesday (2)

This is the first time I've ever done Top Ten Tuesday.  It's a meme hosted by the girls at The Broke and the Bookish where they choose a topic for the list and we all list our corresponding books. (:

This week's list is:
Top Ten Book Endings That Left Me With My Mouth Hanging Open:
  1. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, by J.K. Rowling ( What with Dumbledore dying and Snape killing him, it's kind of hard to stop your mouth from hanging open :p)
  2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, by J.K. Rowling ( An amazing ending to an amazing series.  My mouth hit the floor :P)
  3. The Sweet Far Thing, by Libba Bray ( I couldn't believe that Kartik died.  That is so sad. )
  4. Hush, Hush, by Becca Fitzpatrick ( This was the first angel book I ever read, and I'm really glad it was this and not Fallen, and this book was just so amazing, I just couldn't believe it. OMG!!)
  5. Forever in Blue, by Ann Brashares (Ok, I will admit that it wasn't the ending that had my mouth hanging open, it was the content.  They *cough* did It alot :P)
  6. Fallen, by Lauren Kate ( I will admit that my mouth was not hanging open for a good reason.  You know that saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover"?  Well, I did, and I thought the story would be completely different from what it was, so I was kind of disappointed. But now I'm writing a review and not a little foot-note :P)
  7. Before I Fall, by Lauren Oliver ( BBE { Best Book Ever{)
  8. Vampire Academy, by Richelle Mead ( This book was really good, and I was really surprised because I don't generally like vampire books, but I was very impressed by this book.  I have, however, not read the rest of the series)
  9. My Soul to Take, by Rachel Vincent ( Once again, it wasn't the end that had my mouth hanging open, it was the content.  This book started off ok, then it went to bad, then it went from bad to worse, then from worse to horrible.)
  10. The Forest of Hands and Teeth, by Carrie Ryan ( I don't know what I was thinking when I read this book, because I have a very active imagination and zombies and me don't mix, so as a result, I had nightmares for a week after reading this.)
